Trakt Królewski

Trakt Królewski (royal road) is one of the oldest and the most elegant road in Warsaw. It leds from The Old town to king's resident in Wilanów. During the long walk of 4 connecting streets we can learn about the capital's history. Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego ( the Warsaw Rising Museum)

Warsaw Rising Museum was opened on the 60th Rising anniversary in buildings of a former tram power plant at Okopowa Street. The museum is a tribute by the residents of Warsaw to those who fought 63 days and died for a free Poland and its capital during World War 2. The main elements of the modern exhibition are photographs, films, posters and weapons which recreate the atmosphere of fighting Warsaw and the international situation. The museum have its own shop, library and also offers history lesson to the youngest visitors.

Pałac Kultury I Nauki

The Palace of Culture and Science is located in the strict center of the capital city and its the tallest building in Poland. Palace of Culture and Science is the "gift of the Soviet people for the Polish nation," and it first have the Josef Stalin name. This the best known and most recognized building in Warsaw and Poland was built in just 3 years. Palace was put into service in 1955 and till now days is the biggest monument to a bygone era. Currently, the Palace is the seat of many businesses and public services like cinemas, theater, school, library, museums and offices. Is also a place of big cultural events like concerts, conferences or fairs. Piłsudski Square

Piłsudski Square is the largest square in Warsaw located near the Old Town. During the war it has other names: Victory Square and Adolf Hitler Platz. Behind the Place is the Saxon Garden- since 1727, the first public park in Warsaw and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which is the remnant of the Saxon Palace and one of the most important national symbols. At the tomb of the hour is solemn changing of the guard, and at the same square are often held military parades and ceremonies. Pope Jan Paweł II during the first pilgrimage to Poland in 1979 preached his historical sermons to the Poles in Pilsudski Square

Łazienki

The Palace on the Water also called the Łazienki Palace was built In the 17th century.The original bathhouse was built in a Chinese style.The building, now a beautiful medley of architectular styles, was then graced with relief and painted Dutch tiles. The Palace stands on an artificial island on Łazienki Lake, and is connected to the rest of the park by two arcaded bridges. The long Łazienki Lake is divided by the palace into two parts, a smaller northern lake and a longer southern one. The palace's ground floor includes a Bacchus room, royal baths, a ballroom, a portrait gallery, a Solomon Room, a rotunda with figures of Polish kings, a lower picture gallery which contains minor works by Rubens and Rembrandt, and a chapel.

Starówka

Warsaw's Old Town is the oldest historic district of the city. It is one of Warsaw's most prominent tourist attractions. The heart of the area is the Old Town Market Place, with unique traditional Polish restaurants, café's, and shops. When the weather is warm the square becomes filled with café tables, various traders and street artists. Surrounding streets feature medieval architecture such as the city walls, the Barbican and St. John's Cathedral. Old Town is ideal for walks and picnics- the whole area is mostly closed to traffic and provides spectacular scenery and unforgettable atmosphere.

Wilanów

The beuty of Wilanów Palace is great. The Palace was built for Jan III Sobieski, a famous Polish king. The most attractive thinkg about the castle are the beautiful rooms and also trophys the king brought back to Poland from the war- so you will see both the Polish art and the Turkish. The baroque style of gardens surrounding the royal residence is unique. The gardens are the decorated with statues of „antique celebrities”, that is – gods and goddesses. The statues have been created in the 18th century. There is a lower terrace which has high hedges – all of it creates a picturesque scene that leads you to the Wilanów Lake. Be sure that you will take a walk around the charming Palace gardens as far as down to the lake. The Park has a lot to do with music, as it is a venue of the Summer Royal Concerts in the Rose Garden and the International Summer Academy of Ancient Music. For a music-lover, the place is a must.

Plac Trzech Krzyży - Three Crosses Square

You will reach the Plac Trzech Krzyży( Three Crosses Square) easyli, as it is located near the city-center, between the streets of Nowy Świat and Aleje Ujazdowskie. The Square was built in the 18 th century by King Augustus II. At first it was reffered to as the Crossroads of Golden Crosses- because of the three gold- covered crosses built here on stone posts, which were left standing up to this day. Nine streets join at the square. The urban arrangement as for now contains a mix of old buildings ( the St Alexander Church and the historic Institute for the Deaf building), those from the socialist era (a great exaple of socialist architecture is the Ministry of Finance) and modern ones (best exemplifications being the Holland Park and the Sheraton Hotel). The north side , along with elements of the adjoining streets, is one of the most popular entertainment venues in the capital, with popular clubs, pubs, cafes. Tourists from all over the world tend to feel like at home in the very spot.

Warsaw – the home of Chopin

For classical music fans – A great many tourists who visit Warsaw are eager to see all the footprints of the polsish great pianist and comnposer – Frederic Chopin. Visit the Museum of Frederic Chopin at Ostrogski Castle. You will find there a great many interesting things connected to the great romantic composer. The museum presents personal belongings, documents, manuscripts, numerous paintings, sculptures, engravings of Chopin and his close family. The visitors find it verz helpful that the Museum has tape-guides, recorded in Polish, English, French, German and Japanese. You will also have opportunity to see the cabinet of Professor Jerzy Żurawlew (1887-1980), a great and outstanding pianist and piano teacher, who had been the initiator of the International Frédérick Chopin Piano Competition.

„Pawiak”, the Prison Museum

The „Pawiak” prison museum is one of the most breathtaking places to visit in Warsaw. If you at least briefly know the modern history of Poland and Europe, you will be thrilled to visit the spot. During the German occupation 1939-1945, the „Pawiak” was a Gestapo prison. It was known as a place where members of the Polish resistance suffered appalling tortures. Rarely had someone returned from the „Pawiak”. As far as the experts know, over one hundred thousand Polish citizens, both Christians and Jews, were imprisoned in the Pawiak during the World War II, among which over thirty thousand were killed by nazists.
